Punjab Intermediate Cities Improvement Investment Program (PICIIP)
The Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the Cities Development Initiative for Asia (CDIA) are partnering with the Government of Punjab Province (GoPP), to undertake the Punjab Intermediate Cities Improvement Program (PICIIP). The PICIIP aims to improve the quality of urban services available in selected cities in Punjab Province (city populations between 250,000 and 1,000,000). Urban infrastructure development is an important component of the PICIIP. The duration of the program will be six years. Funding will be accessed in phases. The PICIIP’s overall budget is US$500 million, to be disbursed in different phases. The first phase of the fund investments is in the intermediate cities of Sialkot and Sahiwal, whereas the subsequent phases will cover Sargodha, Bahawalpur, and Rahim Yar Khan, following decisions of the Punjab Government. NEC Consultants Pvt. Ltd is working in this project as a consortium partner with Saaf Consultants and Dev Consultants. NEC is mainly responsible for the engineering designs of water supply & sanitation, transportation, urban spaces, and solid waste infrastructure. In addition, NEC also took the lead in preparing the initial environmental examination and procurement plan under the ADB guidelines of all the components of the project.
